Dry period

I have been painting for over 40 years...and this is the first dry period ...a time when I am not excited by a subject for a painting. Usually I have so many painting subjects, I cannot seem to decide which one first.  IT might be connected to my physical health and that I cannot play my beloved tennis game due to this injury.
I do know that I am torn between painting with soft edges...impressionistic...and fool the eye ...trompe d'oil. Both are exciting to pull off.
Palette knife  ....oil. The oil smells so strong ...I cannot sleep.Pastel of great grandchild
