Telling stories

I like to hear, read, and tell stories. I like to gleam knowledge from a story. I rather hear a point being made....advice that corrects something...a lesson from a story instead of flat out advice...a. Change in behavior or attitude ...I think it is because it gives me the feeling I have made a choice rather than given in to an order. Christ told stories to bring about change in behavior...which allowed the listener to have power and participate in bringing about change. I like to tell a story in a painting ....not telling too much so that the viewer can feel intelligent . I admired NORMAN ROCKWELL painting because of the story every inch of his painting told.

I like porches they symbolize so many things. I like metaphors and paint them often. I think because

Painting frenzy

There are so many stimuli for composition of paintings here in this section of ST. GEORGE ISLAND.

SITTING ONPORCH OF GRAND MER,I HAVE  found that I can work on my ability to paint palm trees, create interesting shadow and light color studies.
I like painting people pictures . Showing people in action. This is from my fascination with Norman Rockwell paintings I darken those clouds behind this guy throwing a net.  Now I am working on docked boats and the reflection in water

Sea foam like lace

Jeanne Marie

Pencil drawing. Robert Henri wrote "your drawing should be an expression of your spiritual sight.
This a drawing of a great grand child . Do I see myself in this generation. Of course I draw the eyes first. I look at photos of my self at this age.
Jeanne will soon be two.

Dry period

I have been painting for over 40 years...and this is the first dry period ...a time when I am not excited by a subject for a painting. Usually I have so many painting subjects, I cannot seem to decide which one first.  IT might be connected to my physical health and that I cannot play my beloved tennis game due to this injury.
I do know that I am torn between painting with soft edges...impressionistic...and fool the eye ...trompe d'oil. Both are exciting to pull off.
Palette knife  ....oil. The oil smells so strong ...I cannot sleep.Pastel of great grandchild
