MONDAY 21ST JUNE

ACYLIC PAINTING  WALKWAY BY ART  ROOM. ALL OVER THE  OTOW GROUNDS, THESE  FLOWERING  TREES  ARE  BEAUTIFUL .

IN THE  PAINTING ON THE LEFT, DONE IN OIL, I AM WONDERING  IF  I MIGHT  CAPTURE THE  COLORS  AND THE ILLUSION OF SHALLOW  WATER  OVER ROCKS.

FRIDAY CONTINUED

I  SAW THESE  CLOUDS. CAN I CAPTURE  THAT  MOMENT AND  EVEN COME  CLOSE  TO  RECREATING THE  MOMENT?

MY NEXT  PAINTING TODAY, WAS THIS  OIL PAINTING OF THE  WATERS AND  ROCKS IN NOVA SCOTIA.. SUCH  BEAUITFUL COLORS  TO THE  WATER AND THE  ROCKS..

I WORKED  ON THIS  PAINTING  BY MAKING THE  BACKAREA LIGHTER. I WANTED TO  MAKE THE CHAIR AND SPINNING  WHEEL  SHOW  UP BETTER.

.
DESIGN  IS  EVERYWHERE. LOOK AT  THIS QUILT  BY  SHIRLEY. SHE  SHOWED  HER  WORK TO US AT THE  ART  ROOM THURSDAY

FRIDAY JUNE 18

FRAMED AND  PAINTED ALL DAY....

I AM STILL TRYING TO  COPY NATURE'S BEAUTY.  SUCH FOLLY. I WAS  SO TAKEN  BY THE  MOSS  'S  COLOR  ON THE  ROCKS AND  TREES.

WED JUNE 16

A QUEST   FOR  EXPRESSION BY STELLA  CANFIELD IS AN ARTICLE  IN THE  DANIEL SMITH CATALOG   SAID IT  ALL. SHE  SAYS" I OTEN ASK MYSELF WHAT  IT IS THAT I WANT TO ACHIEVE, WHAT  IS  MY OBJECTIVE IN PAINTING?  SHE  GOES  ON TO SAY THAT  SHE  CAN'T  COMPETE WITH MOTHER  NATURE.  I FIND  MYSELF  IN BEAUTIFUL PLACES  SAYING  "I CAN'T BEAT  GOD'S  WONDERFUL WORK..."

TUESDAY ART AT OAK RUN

PASTEL CLASS . MY DEMONSTRATION WAS  TO PASTEL A  LIGHT HOUSE  SCENE. I LED THE  GROUP  THROUGH  STEPS  THAT  CALLED  FOR  THEM  TO BEGIN THE  PAINTING  BY DRAWING  THE  SCENE  WITH A  PASTEL  BUT  THEN TO PLACE  SOME  PASTEL IN THE  CORNERS .  TAKE  A  WET  WATERCOLOR  BRUSH   AND  BRUSH  THE  DRY PASTEL THROUGH OUT THE  SKY. I USED  CERELEUM BLUE AND  COLBALT  BLUE. ADDED  A  ROSE  MADDER .  BLENDED THE  THREE COLORS  WITH THE  WATER. I DID THE  SAME  FOR THE  OCEAN AND  THEN THE  ROCKS.
I AM TRYING TO PUT  STUDENT'S  PAINTING  INTO THE  BLOG BUT  THERE IS  A  PROBLEM WHEN I  TRY TO  UPLOAD. FAILED AGAIN..

JUNE 12

WATERCOLOR

MORE  PEOPLE  CAME  TO ART  ROOM TODAY. WAS  NICE  TO HELP PEOPLE AND  GET  FEEDBACK ON  MY OWN PAINITNGS.

I TRIED TO DO A  TREE THAT  CAUGHT  MY FANCY IN CANADA.  I FELT THAT  I HAD  NOT  PLANNED  ADEQUATELY...FAILURE  TO PLAN IS  PLANNING TO FAIL..I THOUGHT  THAT  WAS A  QUOTE  FROM TONY VAN HASSELT..AND  THEN I HEARD   IT  ATTRIBUTED  TO THE   GREAT  BASKETBALL COACH  JOHN WOODEN. IT   APPLIES  SO WELL TO PAINTING AND PLANNING  A  PAINTING.

I ALSO PAINTED WITH PALETTE  KNIFE  THIS  WEEK.I  BOUGHT  FRAMES  AND  NEED TO FINISH  ANUMBER  OF  PAINITNGS  I BECAME  DISCOURAGED  ABOUT. IN THAT  , I KNEW  I DID NOT  HAVE  FRAMES  FOR  THEM.. I LOST  INTEREST  IN  COMPLETING  MANY PAINTS  DUE TO NOT  REALLY HAVING  FRAME  FOR THEM.

IT  HAS  BEEN MY GOAL  FROM NEWYEARS.. TO COMPLETE  PAINTINGS. IN STEAD OF  WATING  SO MUCH EQUIPMENT.

THURSDAY

AFTER ANOTHER   FRUSTRATING  ATTTEMPT TO GET  ON THIS  BLOG...

I PAINTED  WITH THE  ART  GROUP AT  OTOW TODAY. AND  I WAS  ABLE  TO ALMOST  COMPLETE  THIS  PAINTING.

OF  COURSE THIS  IS  FROM PEGGY'S  COVE.  I  FEEL THAT  I ZEROED  IN MORE  ON THIS  ONE.. INSTEAD  OF THE  PANORAMAS  I  HAVE  BEEN TRYING TO DO..

ONE  COMMENT ON THE  PAINTING I TOTALLY AGREE WITH.  PUTTING  LIFE IN THE  PAINTING.. BY PUTTING  IN THE  BIRDS MAKES THE  PAINTING MORE  INTERESTING.

I NEED TO HEED THIS   HINT OF  ADVICE.

I DID  SOME  MORE  PALETTE  KNIFE  PAINTINGS.... FOR THE  CLASS TODAY..
BUT IT  TOOK ME  S  O   L O N G TO SIGN INTO THIS BLOGGER  PAGE... I WILL ONLY  SHARE  A  FEW  DISCOVERIES.

HAVING  A  STRONG DESIGN IS  SO IMPORTANT. AND  PLANNING .. SO THAT  THE  PICTURE BALANCES.. I MEAN THE   PARTS  OF THE  PAINTING BALANCE.  IN ONE  PAINTING , I WAS  PUTTING  ALL THE IMPORTANT  STUFF ON ONE  SIDE OF THE  CANVAS. PLUS  MOST OF THE  CHARACTERS  IN MY SCENE, WERE  THE  SAME  VALAUE.
I WAS  NEITHER  HIGH KEY OR  LOW  KEY..I WAS  SOMEHWERE IN THE MIDDLE.. SO OF  MUMBLING... WHAT  EVER  I WAS  ATTEMPTING  TO SAY.

TUESDAY JUNE 8 2010

MORE  IMPROVEMENTS  ON THE  PEGGY'S  COVE NOVA SCOTIA PAINTINGS ..

I TRIED  TO DARKEN  AREAS  TO CREATE  DEPTH AND  DESIGN.

INCOMPLETE WATERCOLOR.. I MAY CHANGE THE  BACKGROUND COMPLETELY. THIS  IS A  "I SHOULDA COULDA...

JUNE 7 2010 PAINTINGS FROM TRIP..

I WORKED   ON  THE PAININGS  I STARTED   IN NOVA SCOTIA, I CAN STILL SEE SOME  AREAS THAT  NEED  WORK.  STRANGE HOW  THE  ERRORS  POP  OUT  .. WISH  WE  HAD THE  SAME  ABILITY TO CORRECT  MISTAKES IN LIFE.  I CAN  SEE THAT  I PUT  TOO MUCH DETAIL IN THE  ROCKS  THAT  ARE  FARTHEREST  AWAY,,,

SATURDAY JUNE 6

THIS  SCENE.. IS  WHAT  I WORKED  ON YESTERDAY.  MY CAMERA  'S  CARD  IS  STILL FULL OF  PICTURES... I NEED TO ERASE.. BUT  I WOULD LIKE  TO GET   SOME  MORE  PRINTS FROM IT.. AT  WALMART  OR  ELSEWHERE.  I HAVE  IT IN THE  COMPUTER  AND  ON A  DISC.. CDROM DVD.. ALL THOSE  LETTERS..

I ALSO PAINTED  ON  SOME OF THE  PAINTINGS  I STARTED  IN NOVA SCOTIA.. ESPECIALLY  THE  ONES  I STARTED   ALONE THE  AREA  OF THE LIGHTHOUSE  IN PEGGY'S  COVE.

I WOULD  LIKE TO DO SOMETHING WITH THIS  PHOTOGRAPH.... WISH I HAD  A  MONTH TO SPEND THERE...TO PAINT  SUCH  BEAUTIFUL  CLOSEUPS... THERE  WERE  SO MANY  TO PAINT. AND  TO SEE.LIKE THIS. I WANTED  TO RETURN TO THIS  AREA. ALL AROUND  PEGGY'S  COVE, THERE  WERE  LITTLE  AREAS LIKE THIS.  ONE  LADY I MET, SAID"IS'T THIS A  PHOTOGRAPHER'S  DREAM? "

GLOCHESTER AND  ROCKPORT, MASS.  ARE THE  SAME FOR  THIS  ICONIC  BEAUTY.
YOU CAN SEE WHY PHOTOGRAPHERS AND ARTIST  FLOCK TO THESE  PLACES.

PERHAPS IT IS  CALENDAR  ART....BUT I THINK THE  JOY COMES  IN TRYING  TO DUPLICATE  NATURE'S  BEAUTY... CAPTURING   THE  AHA  MOMENT  ONE'S  EYES  BEHELD THE  BEAUTY OF  THIS  OR  THAT AREA.
