MORE PAINTINGS FROM PEGGY'S COVE

I JUST  HOPE  I CAN DO JUSTICE TO THE  ROCKS  IN THIS  ONE.

FROM THE OCEAN STONE   GARDENSFROM PADDY COVE ROADI WILL WORK ON THIS  ONE  TODAY.. IT IS  LOOKING  TOWARD THE  PEGGY'S  COVE LIGHTHOUSE  FROM THE  ROAD.

MORE PEGGY'S COVE TRIP PAINTINGS

THE  COVE  AT  PEGGY'S  COVE  LIGHT HOUSE. ON ADVICE  I GOT  RID OF THE  BIRD  ON TOP OF THE  BUILDING..
THIS IS  ON WATERCOLOR  ARCHES BOARD.  IT  MADE  MY ...OR  RATHER  I HANDELED POORLY.. IN THAT I CAME  OUT  WITH THIS  RAHTER  CARTOONISH PAINTING.. BUT  I CAN SEE IT IN OIL OR  PASTEL WITH  MORE A  PAINTERLY LOOK.

THIS VIEW FROM OCEAN STONE  WAS  PRODUCED  WITH  A COLD WIND AND  PEOPLE  STANDING  IN FRONT OF  ME.. AS  THOUGH  I DID NOT  EXIST. I GAVE  UP .. AND  WILL LOOK  FOR THE  PHOTOGRAPHS  TAKEN   SO I CAN MAKE THE  "FINISHING TOUCHES"OCEAN STONE HAD   BEAUTIFUL FOREST AREAS.. MORE LATER...

SUNDAY MAY 30

BACK FROM NOVA  SCOTIA.
SO MANY  STORIES  OF  A TERRIBLE  FLIGHT  UP TO NOVA SCOTIA ON CONTINENTAL. THE  TRIP BACK ON UNITED   WAS  SO PLEASENT.
THE  OCEAN STONE  COMPOUND OF  COTTAGES  WAS THE  MOST  WONDERFUL PLACE TO STAY AND  SHAKE OFF THE  FEELINGS  FROM THE  FLIGHT  UP.  THE  OWNERS AND  MANAGERS,,THE  WORKERS AT  OCEAN STONE  MADE THE  MILES  MELT  AWAY.
I TOOK 689 PHOTOS. DID  ALMOST  THREE PAINTINGS  ADAY.  I COULD HAVE  PAINTED  FOR  ANOTHER  YEAR  AT  LEAST.
PEGGY'S  COVE  WAS  SUCH A  DELIGHT. THE  SCENERY  WAS  MATCHED  BY   THE  WARMTH OF  HOSPITALITY    FELT  EVERYWHERE  WE  WENT.
WE  DID NOT  EAT  THIS  GRANDADDY. HE  WAS  JUST  FOR  SHOW..
BUT IT  WAS THE  KIND OF  FRIENDLYNESS WE  ENCOUNTERED... THIS  WAS  A PLACE  CALLED RICHARDSON LOBSTER   SOMETHING.. THEY BOLIED AND  CRACKED  THEM  FOR  YOU TO TAKE  HOME TO EAT.   THE  SCENRY AROUND  THEIR  PLACE  PRODUCED  THREE PAINTINGS..
HERE IS  ONE. I AM NOT  FINISHED BUT  WITH THE  PHOTOS  ISHOULD  HAVE  A  NICE  PAINTING. ANOTHER  PLACE  WAS A  CAMP GROUND AND I THINK THEY ARE  RICHARDSONS'S  , TOO. THE  OWNER   WAS   A  WONDERFUL GAL OF  87 WORKING  IN HER  YARD  WITH THE  HELP OF HER  SON AND  DAUGHTER.  THIS  WAS HER  MOTHER IN LAWS (HUSBANDS  HOME ON THE  PROPERTY. IN THE  BACK GROUND, IS A PADDY'S COVE SECTION THAT I WILL SHOW  LATER. JUST  AROUND THE  CORNER  OF THE  ROCKS THAT IS.. WAS THE  PLACE  WE  STAYED ... OCEAN STONE.

MORE  TO COME... GOING TO PLAY SOME  TENNIS THIS  MORNING..

MONDAY MAY 17TH GROWING UP AND GROWING OLD

LITERALLY , I HAVE  PACKED 20 TIMES. TRYING TO GET  "EVERYTHING" I WANT TO PAINT  WITH  IN MY SUITCASE.  I HAVE  MADE  A  DECISION. I WILL NOT  BRING THOSE  EXPENSIVE  ACRYLICS.  BUT  IHAD TO  TAKE  ONE  MORE  STAB AT  PAINTING  WITH  THE  ACRYLICS... PRACTICING  FROM OTHER  PEOPLE  BOOKS AND  PAINTINGS.
E JOHN ROBINSON  BOOK  FOR THE  WAVES  AND  PICTURES   OF  THE  HARBORS   PROVIDED  ME  WITH THE   SUBJECTS.
\ PAINTING  ROCKS WITH  WAVES  CRASHING  HAS  BEEN A  GOAL  SINCE  I WENT TO  A  WORKSHOP IN ROCKPORT , Ma. 30  YEARS  AGO.  BETTY SCHLEMN'S  DEMONSTRATION OF  CRASHING  WAVES  DID IT. I ALSO ATTENDED  A  WORKSHOP SOME  10 YEARS  AGO   WITH  NITA  ENGLE SHOWING THE  STEPS  TO DO THIS  IN WATERCOLOR.

I HATE  TO NOT  TAKE  THE  ACRYLICS... BUT  I JUST  CANNOT  AFFORD THE  PRICES  OF
EXTRA  BAGGAGE ... BOTH MONETARY  AND   PHYSICAL BURDEN.
I WILL JUST  HAVE  TO  COUNT  MY BLESSINGS..AND  STOP WANTING  IT  ALL..

FRIDAY MAY 14TH

I HAVE  BEEN PRACTICING  DRAWING AND  PAINTING ROCKS.  DUE  TO BEING  RAISED AND  SPENDING  46 YEARS  IN A  ROCKLESS  ENVIRONMENT, I DO NOT  HAVE  A  MEMORY BANK OF  ROCK IMAGES  THE  WAY I HAVE  FOR  OAK AND  CYPRESS  TREES.. OR  CAJUN CABINS. DUE TO A  TRIP  I WILL TAKE  SOON TO NOVA  SCOTIA, I WANT TO BEABLE TO PAINT BELIEVABLE  ROCKS  IN BOTH  WATERCOLOR, PASTEL, AND  ACRYLIC.  THESE  ARE  MY PRACTICES.... THE  ACRYLIC  IS  THE  PROBLEM. IT  DRIES  TOO FAST  TO GET  SOFT  BLENDS.  I REALIZE  I NEED  A  STRONG DESIGN..

ALSO, THE  SURFACE  I AM PAINTING ON .. IS  DIFFICULT. I CHOOSE THIS  SURFACE  BECASUE  IT IS  SO LIGHT AND  WILL NOT  MAKE  MY SUITCASE  SO HEAVY. I CAN SEE  THAT I WILL THROW IN A  CANVAS OR  TWO.THIS IS NOT COMPLETED.
I AM ANXIOUS  TO HAVE THE  TIME  TO PAINT  ROCKS. I DID THEM IN COLORADO AND NORTHCAROLINA.  THE  ADDITION OF THE  OCEAN AND  WAVES  IS EXCITING  AND  SCARY.
TUESDAY'S  OAKRUN CLASS PRODUCED  SOME  PRETTY  RENDERINGS

SATURDAY MAY 8 PLEIN AIRE PAINT OUT

SILVER SPRINGS  PARK WAS  OUR  PAINTING SITE  THIS  MONTH.  I  KNEW  EXACTLY WHERE  I WANTED  TO PAINT FROM AN EARLIER PAINT OUT.
THIS  TIME  I WANTED  THE  PORCH  OF  A  HOUSE AND  THE  SPINNING  WHEEL  AND  ROCKER  THAT I HAD  SEEN EARLIER. I CAN SEE  ERRORS  IN THE DRAWING OF THE CHAIR  AS WELL AS THE WHEEL. THIS PASTEL IS ON MI TEINTS . THIS  IS  NOT  MY FAVORITE SURFACE TO  PASTEL ON. BUT I AM RATHER  HAPPY WITH THE   OVER  ALL  APPEARANCE OF THE  PAINTING. I  LIKED THE  OTHER  PAINTERS  COMPOSITIONS AND  SUBJECT  CHOICES. IT IS  A  GREAT  PLACE  TO PAINT.
